Stacy Erwin Oakes
95th District Representative
Stacy Erwin Oakes was born and raised in Saginaw and graduated from Saginaw High School. She graduated cum laude from Ferris State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She then served as a Corrections Officer at the Saginaw Correctional Facility, while working on obtaining her teaching certificate from Saginaw Valley State University. After receiving her certificate, Stacy taught at Central Middle and Saginaw High School while coaching girls’ basketball. She then attended Michigan State University College of Law, while working for the Michigan Department of Civil Rights. After graduating, she accepted a position with the Michigan House of Representatives.
Currently, Stacy is employed with the Michigan Attorney General's Office as an Assistant Attorney General. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Saginaw Valley State University. Recently, she was appointed to the MSU College of Law Board of Trustees. Stacy volunteers as a teacher with Project Future – a youth initiative. She also volunteers with the Community Action Committee. Stacy is the Chairperson for the Walk for Warmth Committee and a member of the 2010 Census Complete Count Committee. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Michael Oakes, and two children, Michael II and Kingston. The family worships at New Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
